Assist with the operation of the pool, oversees the work of assigned lifeguards & monitors compliance with facility policies. Assists with scheduling of employees. Assists with the operation of the pool, its filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water tests. Under direction of the pool supervisor, employ safety rules for the protection of the guest. Responsible for life guarding guest in attendance at the assigned aquatic facility. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training. Ensures maintaining pool and area is clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules, and follow facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions. Assist in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required.
About the Position: Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period. Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.

May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements. WORK HOURS MAY INVOLVE WEEKEND, WEEKDAYS, HOLIDAYS AND NIGHT DUTY.

Satisfactory completion of all required background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13 is required.

Must possess the following certificates: American Red Cross "Lifeguard" certification, Water Safety Instructor Certification, First Aid Certification, American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer" (CPR-Pro) certification, American Red Cross "Automated External Defibrillator" (AED) certification and American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration" certification. (Certificates issue by American Red Cross, Ellis @ Associates, Star Guard or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable)

OBJECTIVE:  Coordinate, promote, and supervise the personal training programs of members.  Work with member to reach fitness goals and increase continuity.  Maintain a positive training environment by providing education to co workers and members. 
 
JOB SUMMARY:
Personal Trainer is a full time position offering approximately 40 hours per week of availability according to the needs of the club management.  Trainers report directly to the Training Manager. The compensation is an hourly base rate plus bonus.  DBG works closely with every trainer to ensure they have a functioning knowledge of fitness training not just a degree or certifications.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.  Train all new members / prospects.
·          Ensure members understand the goals and mission of the club.
·          Go through the member’s limitations and any health issues.
·          Determine with the member/prospect their physical and emotional goal.
·          Conduct a physical assessment to determine both physical ability as well as mental makeup.
·          Teach all movements with attention to detail (The Perfect Rep).
·          Use the skills possessed and newly acquired to design a program (Paint the picture)
·          Modify  training program to fit a members appropriate intensity level
·          Upon completion of initial session, give critical information to the MA to ensure the prospect gets the appropriate package, and schedule.
 
2.   Maintaining Technical Proficiencies:
·          Maintain  working knowledge in Anatomy and Physiology
·          Acquire a strong command of biomechanics
·          Maintain the ability to program for all levels of fitness
·          Strong communications skills especially while cueing during  sessions
·          Acquire basic nutritional knowledge
·          Participate in workshops
·          Work with training manager and other resources to increase training knowledge
·          Understand your capabilities and working within them
·          Keep accurate records of training programs
 
3.   Uphold High Level of Professionalism and Customer Service
·          Show up on time for sessions and meetings
·          Maintain the appearance of a DBG trainer
·          Work with the member and management to find the best fit for a client in case of sickness
·          Be prepared for all sessions
·          Convey a  sense of empathy with clients while maintaining the professional relationship
·          Work with Membership Department on problem clients
 
4.  Administer Client Goals and Packages
·          Understand where members are in package completion
·          Ensure programming reflects clients frequency
·          Know when your clients are going away and adjusting program accordingly
·          Ensure that clients train even if their primary trainer is out to maintain consistency
·          Work with other trainers to identify the best possible course of training for each client
·          Ensure all clients use the scheduling desk for all scheduling needs
·          Ensure members complete freeze forms at scheduling desk when needed
·          Suggest alternate times and days to increase adherence of training
·          Maintain ability  to work in a changing environment
